Jean Abdelnour is senior director of the Physical Plant Department at Ì©¹ú²ÊƱ (AUB) since 2009. He manages the operation and maintenance of the campus equipment and its utilities as well as the renovation of buildings on campus.
He is mainly responsible for the university’s electric power and steam distribution, cooling and heating as well as buildings’ maintenance. He oversees the operation of the Physical Plant Coordination Center along with the facilities’ maintenance including all kinds of craftsmen shops, hardscape/landscape and custodial services, adding up to 200 employees. During his career, he implemented multiple energy conservation measures to make Ì©¹ú²ÊƱa greener and more sustainable campus.
Jean joined Ì©¹ú²ÊƱin 1991 as power plant manager. He worked on extending the power plant and the steam plant production along with the design of new equipment installation and the extension of the old power plant building. Previously, he was an engineer at TAKLA Trading in Beirut (1985-1991) where he was responsible for the import of generators and the installation and servicing of diesel generators, and where he was promoted to the position of technical manager.
Jean holds a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Utah in the United States.
