ACCA accredit the accounting programme of American University of Beirut (AUB) to further strengthen the finance profession in Lebanon

â¶Ä‹ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has recently fully accredited the Accounting program at the American University of Beirut (AUB) to further strengthen the finance profession in Lebanon. By achieving this accreditation, institutions undergo an assessment which is carried out by the professional qualifications approvals team.

An exemption is only awarded when ACCA is completely satisfied that it matches a student's prior learning, and will ensure that the student has an equivalent level of knowledge to students who have completed the same exam of the ACCA Qualification by examination.

The Bachelor programme (BBA – Accounting Concentration) at Ì©¹ú²ÊƱhas been fully accredited by ACCA, which will aid their students to join ACCA with a shorter progression pathway. The certificate was handed to the Dean of Suliman S. Olayan School of Business, Dr. Steve Harvey; Associate Dean for programs, Dr. Said Elfakhani;  Convener of the Finance, Accounting and Managerial Economics Track, Dr. Ibrahim Jamali; and Bassima Hout, Accounting Lecturer.

â€œThe ACCA exemption accreditation is another affirmation of the practical relevance of our accounting courses. It demonstrates that OSB's accounting concentration students acquire the essential skillset needed to kick-start their careers in auditing and beyond" said Dr. Ibrahim Jamali, Convener of the Finance, Accounting and Managerial Economics Track.

â€œThe ACCA exemption reflects the global impact of our accounting concentration program" noted Bassima Hout, Accounting Lecturer.

Fazeela Gopalani, head of ACCA Middle East commented: 'We are delighted to be working with Ì©¹ú²ÊƱ to further strengthen the finance profession in Lebanon. Through such alliances, we can collectively ensure we play a critical role in nurturing and supporting the next generation of finance professionals to further support the economic development of the country. Accreditation of this programme will ensure that students registering with ACCA will receive a level of exemption which matches the knowledge and skills gained from their previous qualifications. We are committed to driving the profession in the region and Lebanon in building an economy, where finance professionals continue to thrive whilst driving fiscal and economic impact."
