American University of Beirut

Community Feedback on the Self-Study Report

The university is now preparing for its forthcoming reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), through the self-study process, which evaluates the entire institution across seven standards.

The seven standards required for inclusion in the university’s self-study report are Mission and Goals; Ethics and Integrity; Design and Delivery of the Student Learning Experience; Support of the Student Experience; Educational Effectiveness; Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement; and Governance, Leadership, and Administration. In each, the report positions AUB’s status on compliance, where applicable.

The steering committee and seven working groups, guided by the MSCHE-approved self-study design document , have prepared a draft self-study report that highlights AUB’s strengths and achievements and identifies potential areas for improvement. It is the work of more than 150 people (faculty, administrators, staff, and students) from across AUB.

All faculty members, administrators, staff, and students are encouraged to review the draft report and provide feedback. Your input will help ensure that the draft self-study report reflects the broad scope of the university’s academic mission and its activities. You can review the full report and submit feedback relating to the content through this link. Use your Ì©¹ú²ÊƱusername and password to access the report and feedback form.

The report will remain posted on the self-study website through the month of August, after which edits will be made with consideration given to your feedback. The final draft will be submitted to the chair of the MSCHE evaluation team (Dr. John DiNardo) by mid-September, and that document will be used as the basis for his visit during October 10-12, 2018. A final version of the report will be submitted to the evaluation team who will conduct a comprehensive site visit during March 3-6, 2019.
