Lebanon's First Quantum Computing Hackathon
In celebration of Global Quantum Year 2025, the Center for Advanced Mathematical Sciences is organizing the first Lebanon's Quantum Computing Hackathon @ Ì©¹ú²ÊƱin collaboration with the Open Quantum Institute (OQI) at CERN.
This hackathon will bring together talented students [at the undergraduate and graduate level] from local Lebanese Universities to develop quantum-powered solutions that address pressing real-world challenges in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Saturday, April 5, 2025
DTS and College Hall Auditorium
Participants will have hands-on quantum computing experience by learning and applying quantum machine learning, quantum optimization and simulation to solve challenges in healthcare, clean energy, water treatment, logistics, and more. They will be guided by mentors with quantum computing expertise (researchers and industry professionals), ensuring a deep dive into quantum technologies and their applications. They will be exposed to cutting-edge tools such as Pennylane, with potential access to IBM Quantum credits for advanced circuit executions.
Quantum Day
A dynamic pre-hackathon event designed to immerse participants in the world of quantum computing through a series of talks, and workshops. The day begins with welcome remarks and an introductory session on quantum computing, followed by a keynote address and a discussion on innovation and the Sustainable Development Goals, leading into interactive workshops on quantum programming, machine learning, and optimization. The day concludes with team meetups, mentor sessions, and ideation time to gear up for the hackathon—all fueled by coffee, cookies, and curiosity.
