Mission Statement

The mission of the Collection Development Department is to develop and maintain the general library collections housed in Jafet Library which mostly cover print monographs and audiovisual resources in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Serial publications E-resources including e- books are the responsibility of the Serials and Electronic Resources Department.

Objectives and Functions

Provide quality, dynamic, and well-balanced collections supporting AUB’s current academic programs, curriculum, research activities, and service goals.
Identify and collect information sources, in all formats supporting the existing programs and historical strengths of the collection.
Anticipate foreseen academic curricular and scholarly trends and identify areas of growth for the collection.
Continuously maintain, assess, and develop existing collections, in active and effective cooperation with academic departments and faculty members.
